I don't know how I can say this any more simply:  you are not unAPI's
target audience.  You already have OpenURL.  Good.  I love OpenURL.

The rest of the world is unAPI's target audience.  The rest of the
world doesn't use OpenURL, nor are they about to, today.  If something
like unAPI caught on with the rest of the world, the world might wake
up and realize that they really do need OpenURL.  That would be great.
We would be ready.

Today we're ready, but they're not.  That's no value judgement on any
of us or on OpenURL... it's a business decision.

We've already discussed the possibility of defining an OpenURL Community
Profile for unAPI-like services.  That seems like a very fruitful path
and it seems you already have willing collaborators.

I don't want to be a jerk, but at this point, this discussion is a
distraction.  If unAPI fails, let it be a failure of a spec released
to the market, not a failure because we couldn't ship a spec due to
infighting.
