  • We’re still serving the general public
  • Why shouldn’t any kid in any library be able to listen to any song she wants (legally)?
  • Let’s find a way to make that happen

• Libraries can be a shared public good

• We are “cross-platform and generalized”

• Libraries offer information economies of scale

  • Central nodes for metadata management
  • Central physical point of access
  • Diverse sustainability models (though some work better than others, and threats loom)
