Basics: Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Lending materials owned by a library to those outside of the library community (usually through other libraries)
Borrowing materials owned by other libraries for members of a library’s own community
Includes sharing of physical media to be returned (e.g. books) and not returned (e.g. photocopied chapters or articles)
Often called ILL/DD (for Document Delivery)
DD can be a for-fee (and for-profit) service to non-members of a library’s community
